David Sanger Profile

Born in Britain, David Sanger now makes his home in Albany, California, near San Francisco. As a photojournalist and writer, he sees travel as a transforming experience, an opening to the wonder and joy of life. "I am continually amazed at the intricate variety and diversity of our world."

Among his adventures, he's been atop a volcano in Ecuador, shared tea in a yurt with Kazakh horsemen in western China, crawled deep into a Mayan burial cave beneath the rain forest in Belize, drifted through ice floes in Alaska's Glacier Bay and lingered with elephants on the banks of the Zambezi River.

His work has been featured in magazines such as Garden Design, Caribbean, Travel and Life, National Geographic Traveler, Escape, and Sunset as well as over a dozen in-flight magazines and calendars by UNICEF and the Sierra Club.

He was recognized as the 1998 Photographer of the Year by the Society of American Travel Writers.
