The Cherry Blossom is the national flower of Japan. Because the delicate blossoms open all at once and the petals fall after only a week or 10 days, the Japanese view this as symbolizing the transient nature of Life.  As the quintessential sign of Spring, cherry blossoms also symbolize starting anew. Thus, cherry blossoms are incorporated into many designs throughout Japanese culture.

This ceramic teacup has
a floral design of white stylized cherry blossoms against a pink glazed background. (Matching saucer, 160-069 Plate Uke Sakura Beni Sakura, is available separately.)
3-3/8" diameter by 2-3/8" height; 4-1/2 ounces capacity
