From the Wuyi area famous for its "rock" teas, this loosely twisted leaf tea is lightly fragrant of cinnamon. ("Rou Gui" means "cinnamon" in Chinese.) This Rou Gui is not over fired and has a subtle dried fruit flavor reminiscent of longan (?? lóng y?n, lit. "dragon eye"). It brews a liquor that is pleasantly stimulating with a slightly sweet finish. Use spring water at a temperature of 80° to 90° C. (180° to 195° F.) and multiple short steepings.
