Tai Ping Hou Kui Green "Houkeng Leader"

I find this tea very smooth, capable of multiple infusions, and a rather fresh spring taste. The only thing I'm not crazy about are the very long leaves. Makes it a little difficult to get into a small pot or strainer, but worth the effort. Definitely one of my favorites!...

I've tried over 50 of Holy Mountains Green teas and this is one of my top 3 favorites. Refreshing flavor, great fragrance and a nice amount of caffeine. This is, often, my go-to tea for an afternoon cup....

Twelve years after my first review of this tea in 2006 and it's still my favorite. I make tea at work every afternoon and I save this one for when I really want something special. Drinking this tea is a spiritual experience. Relax and enjoy it!...

Organic Dragon Phoenix Pearl Jasmine

I have been purchasing this Dragon Phoenix Pearl Jasmine tea for years, and it is definitely the best I've ever tasted. The scent of this tea once it has steeped is like aromatherapy - a wonderful start to the delicious flavour that follows. It has a smooth, delicate taste that lasts through multiple steepings (I normally get 3-4 steepings from a rounded teaspoon). My favourite on relaxing, weekend mornings. I will continue to purchase this delicious tea....

As noted this tea lacks the characteristic smokey flavor but it is an excellent quality black tea. No regrets!...

We use this in place of cheap quality black brick tea to make Tibetan butter tea and it is excellent. It has a rich earthy flavor that is mellow enough not to be unpleasant....

Excellent quality black tea. It has a strong yet balanced taste. Guests swore it must have been a Darjeeling and were surprised to learn it was a Chinese black tea....

Lapsang Souchong Special

Please Note this tea does NOT have the smoky aroma and flavor of typical Lapsang Souchong. The tea's description mentions this but it bears repeating. The tea is good--smooth and mild. However, if you wanted traditional Lapsang Souchong flavor, this "Special" version does not have it....

Enjoy this tea, and I drink my tea via a quart a day with ice. Had problems getting this tea refilled from others. Found it here and good. I recommend it. Hot or as in the South Ice Tea, with stevia and lime....

Maybe the best loose-leaf Pu-erh I've ever tasted. Robust and toothsome, yet smooth, with just a bit of that musty Pu-erh earthiness and mineral taste....

1st Grade Dragon Well (Lung Ching)

Tony Finnemore
I have been drinking a Dragon Well Lung Ching from a large Australian tea retailer, costing $19 for 50 grams or 1.76 oz.

Brewed my first Holy Mountain 1st Grade Dragon Well (Lung Ching) today and it is much rounder with none of the after bitterness that I had from my previous tea, plus the flavour is great.

Except for a delivery delay caused by Australian quarantine, the whole order process was simple and quick. Thanks for a great tea at the right price!...

I've been drinking this tea for more than a year now and I love it. It's got a definite Darjeeling taste to it but also the freshness of green tea....

Russian Caravan

I DO NOT THINK THE NAME IS MEANT TO MEAN IT'S AN RUSSIAN TEA, THE TEA IS BLENDED TEA BASED ON A SMOKED TEA. THE NAME MEANING ONLY ONE TRAVELING TO RUSSIA BACK IN THE DAY BY CARAVAN, ONE MAY COME ACROSS A TEA VERY MUCH LIKE THIS. IF YOU LIKE PU-RA OR AGED TEA TRY IT. IT IS DIFFERENT. I LIKE IT ON OCCASION....

1st Grade Gyokuro Asahi (Pearl Dew)

This is a very tricky tea to brew correctly. If you get it wrong, it will taste like celery blended with an acidic cleaning solution - which is disgusting. But If you get it Right, it is SOOOOO GOOD. Very Smooth, full-bodied flavor of green veggies with a small hint of mint. It can have a very good calming, relaxing effect on the body.
So, to brew correctly, use 1/2tbsp of leaves per 8oz of water. For the first steep, use hot water thats just beginning to throw off water vapor, and steep for only 20 seconds. For subsequent steeps, you can increase the temp a little. Also increase the steep time by 10 seconds for each subsequent steep. I consistently get three to five good steeps out of this method and ratio of water to tea as I have described....

A very unusual tea. I've never tasted anything quite like this one. The combination of jasmine and chocolate gives the flavor strange depth....

Imperial Loose-leaf Pu-erh

10/03/2009
Barry Sweat
I first met up with this tea as a gift from my daughter, while shopping at a fine tea shop she was asked,"What does he like in a tea?" She replied,"He likes the drugs." The Imperial Pu-erh was recommended and I've been a huge fan since then. The liquor can be as black as any coffee with a deep earthy flavor and a long and complex finish. The aging process mellows the tannins the way it does a fine red wine so that the tea can be brewed strong enough to make espresso coffee turn green with envy and yet have no hint of harsh or bitter flavor. A wondrous cup of tea well worth it for its aroma and flavor. but it will yank you by the collar to get things going in the morning quite well too....

I love the teas that holy mountain offers but this one is terrible. I am from Russia and this is in no way reminiscent of Russian teas at all. It reeks of old socks and the taste is awful. It took me a few days to get the stench out of my teapot. I would highly advise against this tea....

Nepal Organic Kangchenjunga Black

Robin Karnes
This tea is truly wonderful. It has all of the "muscatel" tangy-ness and complexity of a great Darjeeling, but has a bit more strength and body to it than the average Darjeeling, which is lovely because as nice as Darjeelings are, they can sometimes be just a bit too subtle for my palate. This organic Nepalese tea is wonderful stuff, I'll buy a larger batch when my 1 oz. sample runs out....

This tea is fun. It tastes kind of like a black darjeeling but much more mellow. The flavor is bright and clean with darjeeling floral overtones. I found very low temperature water (maybe 140°), lots of tea in the gaiwan, and short steepings work best. I usually infuse this tea three times....

Organic Dragon Well (Lung Ching)

Scott Pelikan
This tea really does smell a little like chocolate. It has the classic Dragon Well aroma with a hint of chocolate that I just love. When I figured out how to brew it, this became my favorite tea. I put lots of tea in my gaiwan and use very low temperature water (probably 140°), steeping the tea for only a minute or two. This tea gives me several infusions.
I have sampled lots of Dragon Well, up to ones that cost $200. per pound. The more expensive Dragon Wells obviously have the wonderful Dragon Well flavor with no bitterness. What I love about this Organic Dragon Well is that it also can be brewed with no bitterness and has that classic Dragon Well flavor. I find it to be an incredible value and drink it every day....

This tea was a great introduction to Dragon Well for me. It has the classic Dragon Well flavor and I fell in love with it. I have since moved on to higher grades of Dragon Well that have less bitterness and give me a deeper experience of this variety of tea....

A very good example of darjeeling for people seeking the famous Muscatel flavour. The floral notes are lighter than the fruit ones. it has a moderate astringency, and I must add that the tea pearls are very beautiful...

this green oolong is a very fine tea. It is very similar to some excellent quality green Tie kuan jin, very floral with a very notorious orchid aroma, In my opinion one of the best green oolongs you can buy comparing its quality and excellent price...

I guess that I would give this tea the highest rating, but I have only tried about 10 different varieties of green/white tea. This however is by far my favorite. My two teenage sons and I drink it every weekend. Water temp, and steep time effect it less than most others. It always is a great tasting tea....

This is an excellent tea with a very interesting taste. The smell of this tea will remind you of an open campfire and provoke subconscious memories once inhaled; it tastes as it smells, very woodsy, strong and astringent. I recommend this tea, due to the fact it is very different from all teas and tastes like nothing else. This tea can be enjoyed plain or mixed with milk, honey or sugar; I recommend sweetening this tea and using milk due to the strong flavor. This would be a very good cold winter morning tea. Blessings...

I find this tea to be quite pleasant; it is very mellow and has an earthy sweetness that will bring your palate joy. This could be an everyday tea for you, but I prefer to savor it and only use it for special times when I have the chance to sit down and really enjoy it, don’t waste this tea on the go. This also makes an excellent cold tea for hot summer days; it almost brings out more of the flavor after steeped, then refrigerated. I highly recommend this tea to all. Blessings...

The flavor of this tea begins very clean and light, followed by a pronounced but not overwhelming fruit taste reminiscent of peach and apricot that mellows a while on the back of the tongue before closing with a subtle seaweed flavor. A sweet, peachy taste lingers long afterwards. Crisp and refreshing, and very lightly astringent for a green. I found the second infusion to be somewhat weaker but all the flavors remain intact. I would rate this 4.25 stars....

This tea is delectably complex yet easy-to-like and well worth the price. The leaves are downy and fluffy with an incredible fragrance, something like a divine summer field. Brewed it has a sweet, smooth start, followed by a slightly nutty character, with a warm, open, buttery finish where the light astringency hits and continues to play against the butteriness. Refreshing and satisfying at once. The first infusion captures the taste of that summery fragrance best while the second takes on some very slight vegetal tones. Both are excellent, with the third showing a hint of decline yet still coming in well above acceptable....

Golden Wang Pu-erh

Mark Arend
This could be considered a very challenging tea, but it has become one of my absolute favorites. If you like the musty flavor and aroma of Pu-erh, then you will love this tea. Its bold flavor is not sharp, but rounded and smooth. It has a robust body--almost creamy--but with a dark brown, dusky color. I love this tea and plan to buy a pound as soon as it comes back in stock!...

It took some testing for amount of tea and brewing time, but then it all came together and the glorious first taste, the amazing sweet bloom, and the long-lingering delightful aftertaste really "hit" us. Today, I started with a lot of tea (7.7 grams for 24-25 oz pot) and brewed over 4 minutes at 205 degrees. Good, but strong and not subtle. I lowered it to about 5.8 grams for another of the same pots and brewed just under 4 minutes. Magnificent! Something I never want to be without (I just ordered a pound)....

This is my second favorite tea here... I usually brew this up Saturday mornings, talk about waking up to such a pleasant smell, and then you take that first sip and your at instant peace. If you love flavor, this one is excellent. I gave up all forms of sweetners lately, and this tea takes OH NATURAL to a whole new level.... enjoy!!!...

This incredible tea is easily worth splurging on. It's more expensive than the regular green snail spring tea but the flavor is incredibly rich and the sweet aftertaste lingers for a few minutes. A really really lovely tea that is absolutely worth the fee....
