Large Black Jade Serving Dish

This large black jade serving dish is made of "Black Jade" from the famous jade deposit in Northeast China. This type of stone is called "Black Jade" by the locals. The semi-glossed appearance is actually magnesium based embedded with carbon.  Unlike translucent jade, it is mostly opaque with occasional white translucent veins. It has a rich patina in a warm and dark grayish tone. This dish can be used for serving or as a centerpiece for tables. 14-1/2" diameter by 5-3/4" height.
