Red Hood Red Hood grown in the rocky peaks the Wuyi mountains of Fujian province was the tea served and prepared by and for the Imperial family of the Yuan Dynasty (13th and 14th centuries). This is a lightly fermented oolong with a smooth, rich and malty character.
Tieguanyin Pearls, High Grade Rolled "pearls" unfurl into three or four leaves that include a delicate tea-leaf bud. These high grade Tieguanyin pearls, also called balls or pellets, yield a lovely aromatic brew of a tawny, golden liquor with at least three to seven infusions. The "dance of the leaf" is spectacular, and the ensuring drink always satisfying.
Tieguanyin Competition "Monkey Picked" Oolong This is our finest grade, monkey-picked, Tieguanyin tea from Fujian's Sand County Wuyi Mountains, revered by all tea lovers. It is slightly bitter to the palate at first, then sweet, with a fragrance which lingers. It is one of the few teas that can hold up to numerous infusions, and produces a rich golden liquor with a spicy aroma and delightful aftertaste.
Phoenix Bird Oolong (Zhong Shan Baiye) "China Mountain White Leaf" Zhong Shan Baiye means "China Mountain White Leaf." From out of the Wuyi Hills in Guangdong province comes this exquisite oolong that brews to a dark leaf. The liquor has a mellow, satisfying flavor.
Oolong Choice Our Oolong Choice is hand picked once a year, when the flavor is at its finest. Mostly grown in the Omei area of Hsinchu county, the leaves are naturally curly with silver tips and the tender sprouts are picked during the peak of summer.

Tung Ting Premium This young leaf tea from the highest plantations above Sungpoling (Pine Bluff) is regarded as one of Taiwan's best. Jade Pouchong Not truly a green, not wholly an oolong, pouchongs are oxidized in a unique way. They are wrapped in cloth or paper to keep the leaves moist longer during the heat-generated oxidation. The result is that most pouchongs are oxidized 12 to 18 percent. This premium pouchong is slightly sweet, delicate, and smooth. It has a very relaxing and satisfying cup.
Jade Oolong This first-class oolong brews a tawny cup with complex delicate taste, full flavor and delicious smooth finish. The tea is very generous; up to five infusions are common.
1st Grade High Mountain This premium tea from north-central Taiwan is 25 percent oxidized to retain a greener character. It is known for its complex flavor, golden-green colored liquor, and exquisite lilac-scented bouquet.
1st Grade Li Shan "Pear Mountain" Li Shan, known locally as "Pear Mountain," is the highest altitude, premiere tea-growing area in Taiwan. Its high-grade tea is known for its slightly fruity and flowery flavor, and light golden liquor with a pronounced and balanced finish.
1st Grade San Lin Shee Oolong This high grown, premium tea from central Taiwan is 20 percent oxidized to retain a greener character. It produces a golden liquor with clean fragrance and velvety smooth, long-lingering flavor. Use spring water at a temperature of 80° to 90° C. (180° to 195° F.) and multiple short steepings.
Dunsandale Estate TGFOP Oolong This limited production TGFOP black oolong from the renowned Dunsandale Estate brews a deep brown liquor with full flavor, woodsy fragrance and soft finish.
Welbeck Estate Frost Tea This is a January tea plucked after the year's coldest nights at the height of the Nilgiri "Quality Season." Welbeck Estate Frost Tea must properly be called "oolong" although it can also be treated like a black tea. It certainly looks like a black, but with the most carefully plucked and produced leaf from India. The leaf is large -- sometimes three leaves and a bud since it had to be rolled and repeatedly fired as oolong -- unbroken, long, wiry, fragrant and flavorful, with an unmistakably high-grown lightness of body and character.
Gopaldhara Darjeeling Oolong, 1st Flush This unusual oolong tea from India's renowned Gopaldhara Estate yields a deep tawny liquor with a fruity aroma. The brew has a satisfying, slighty spicy flavor with a sweet finish.
Ming Thai Oolong This lightly oxidized, handcrafted oolong from northern Thailand brews a light golden liquor with sweet green overtones and a floral aftertaste. It is similar to some of the better green oolongs of China and Taiwan.
Kenya Marinyn This quality tea is grown in the Kenyan highlands, an extensive area covering both sides of the Rift Valley between Mount Kenya and Lake Victoria. These highlands range in altitude from 5,000 to 9,000 feet and enjoy copious rainfall. Kenya Milima has small, fine reddish-black leave and brews dark and hearty, with a sort of sweetness to the fragrance and flavor.
Kenilworth OP The tea estate Kenilworth produces teas known as "mid-country" teas, grown at 3,500 feet. They are renowned for their rich, coloury liquor and strength. The OP leaves are fancy, long rolled and wiry with a distinctive flavor unique to this estate. Even adjacent gardens blessed with the same climate cannot product the same flavor and liquor. Enjoyable anytime, we particularly recommend Kenilworth for the morning, when the virtues of a good strong full-bodied cup of tea are especially appreciated.
Lovers Leap OP This Orange Pekoe tea's fragrant leaves yield a coppery liquor with an astringent and lively taste. Excellent with milk and sugar.
Nuwara Eliya Estate Grown at the highest region on the island, this tea is often described as the "champagne" of Ceylon teas. The leaf is gathered all year round, but the finest teas are made from that plucked in January and February. It yields a rich, golden, excellent quality liquor that is smooth, bright and delicately perfumed. This tea is great any time of the day with a little milk.
New Vithanakanda SFTGFOP This excellent tea from Ratnapura District has wiry extra long, very stylish, tippy leaves that give a slightly sweet aroma and a gentle smooth taste. Drink with milk as an afternoon tea.
Ceylon Gold This golden fine-leafed tea yields a fruity aromatic liquor with rich, full flavor and a smooth finish. Steep at a water temperature just below boiling, infusing for 3 to 4 minutes. The leaves are good for several infusions.
Yunnan FOP (Dianbong) The "yun" in Yunnan means "cloud" and most tea there is raised at elevations of 3,000 to 7,000 feet. Yunnan FOP consists of the orange pekoe leaves accompanied by a profusion of fat golden buds. It is a brisk, large-leaf tea characterized by its aromatic and spicy flavor, and rich, reddish-orange liquor. It is comparable to Assam in flavor.
Keemun (Qihong) This most famous of China blacks is grown in Qimen county in southern Anhui province. It has an attractive, slender, tightly curled leaf, fine and twisted. With a superb flavor and aroma, Keemum is a low-grown tea that's complex, sweet, fruity, unusually full-bodied, and renowned for a dark red liquor with an orchid- or rose-like fragrance. It makes an excellent "English Breakfast" and is useful for iced tea since it does not cloud easily.
Organic Keemun Hairpoint From Qimen county in southern Anhui province, this organic tea has long, slender twisted leaves that yield a golden brown liquor with mellow flavor and a hint of sweetness.
Keemun Hao Ya "A" Known in China as the "King of Red (Black) Teas," this classic congou, fragrant in the dry leaf, is the fanciest keemun available. It brews a dark red liquor with a smooth, full-bodied taste and rose-like fragrance.
Golden Monkey From China's Fujian province, Golden Monkey is a very playful tea with lots of character and a wonderful aroma. It's not easy to find a high quality black tea (called red tea in China). Most are mass produced commercially on large farms. This is a good example of one grown, picked and made with great care. It's a first flush early-picked spring tea and production is limited.
Organic Keemun Mao Feng This organic tea has dark wiry leaves with some golden tips. It brews a deep amber liquor with slightly spicey aroma and classic, rich Keemun taste.
1st Grade Yunnan Gold Tip This is a first-grade tea with many golden tips in the dry leaf. It brews a deep brown liquor with a slightly spicy aroma and full flavor.
Imperial Yunnan Gold Tip This rare tea with numerous golden tips and fine aroma brews an exceptionally smooth liquor with a satisfying finish.
Golden Needle This quality in a black tea is rare. It is grown in Fujian province, and picked only in the early spring by highly skilled workers. The leaves are tightly rolled into the needle shapes which gives this tea its unique appearance. English-style tea drinkers will enjoy this tea for its rich taste and fine aroma.
Black Sea Anemone (Hong Mudan) We call this one Black Sea Anemone because that's just what it looks like after steeping. It is a "display" tea. It is meant to be enjoyed not only for its taste, but for its appearance as well. This tea is made from quality spring-picked leaves, then hand-tied into beautiful rosettes. This tea is from southern Anhui province on a remote mountain where virtually every family grows tea. It is a fool-proof tea to prepare. Simply place an entire rosette in a glass, add hot water and enjoy. An 8-12 oz. wineglass will show the tea at its best, and is ideal for savoring its sweet and delicate taste. Black Sea Anemone can be enjoyed throughout a meal, simply adding additional hot water as needed. It won't become bitter from over-steeping, even after several hours of infusion.
Nilgiri Havukal Estate The Nilgiris, or Blue Mountains, are a stunningly beautiful range of hills that stretch down the southwestern tip of India from the state of Kerala to the state of Tamil Nadu. At a height of about 4,500 feet and with approximately 80 inches of rain a year, it is the perfect environment for tea cultivation. Havukal Estate produces a fine flavory tea with bright, brisk liquor and a smooth rounded mellow flavor. Drink it all day with a little milk.
Assam TGFOP The English swear that this is tea at its best! This rich, full-bodied, dark malt-flavored TGFOP tea is grown on the lowland plains below the darjeeling plantations. It brews a satisfying cup with a deep red color, and may be used for making an Irish Breakfast tea. It is second flush with a handsome tippy leaf and an excellent round flavor.
Darjeeling TGFOP This tea comes from the most romantic and interesting tea district in all India, on the southern slopes of the Himalayas. Our TGFOP Darjeeling is second flush, picked from May until the end of July, when the flavor is smoother and a bit more fruity. This authentic Darjeeling is the product of meticulous care and supervision. Due to climatic factors and high altitudes, leaf growth is very slow, producing a flavor profile unparalleled throughout the world. It brews a full and satisfying cup.
Organic Darjeeling Selimbong Estate, First Flush This certified organic Darjeeling from one of India's finest estates is characteristicly bright and pleasantly pungent. It is a first-flush tea with grey-green glazed leaves.
Glendale Estate Handmade Tea Located in Coonoor, in the Nilgiri Mountains in Tamil Nadu at 5,500 to 6,000 feet, Glendale Estate is famous for growing the most expensive black tea ever sold at auction ($600/kilo). This more-affordable tea brews a tasty light brown liquor with a soft spiciness.
Havukal Estate Frost Breakfast BOP Havukal has long deserved its reputation as one of the Nilgiri district's top estates. This small leaf grade BOP tea yields a supremely aromatic, thick liquor, perfect with milk and sugar. Use sparingly; barely a level teaspoon of dry leaf per cup is suggested.
Makaibari Estate Darjeeling 1st Flush From the renowned Makaibari estate comes this organic 1st flush Darjeeling tea. The khaki green dry leaves yield a spicy aromatic liquor with pleasing taste and a smooth, round finish.
Makaibari Estate Darjeeling 2nd Flush Muscatel This organic 2nd flush Darjeeling tea is from the famous Makaibari estate. The golden tobacco dry leaves yield an aromatic chestnut brown liquor with a lively muscatel taste and multi-faceted finish.
Assam Sessa Estate This second-flush Assam has a deep brown leaf with warm golden accents and brews a tawny liquor with a bold, satisfying cup. Enjoyable with or without milk.
Darjeeling Castleton Estate, First Flush This superb Darjeeling from the renowed Castleton Estate is a first-flush tea with a fresh bright character and a floral scent. It brews a light golden liquor with a slightly astringent aftertaste.
Vintage Darjeeling Gopaldhara, Second Flush This second-flush Darjeeling is grown in the Mirik region of the Darjeeling valley. It has a purplish bloom with a sprinkling of silver tips which produces a mellow and complex liquor.
Burnside Estate Frost Tea Originally called "Lucky Valley" when it was opened up and planted in the 1920s by J. L. H. Stisted, this Nilgiri hills estate ranging in elevation from 5,100 feet to over 6,100 feet was later sold to a Mr. Burnside and passed through other hands before being acquired by the present ownership in 1993. The estate successfully controls all pests and diseases with 100% bio-dynamic natural products as per international standards. Burnside Estate Frost has very long, wiry, well-rolled leaves showing even wither and a high proportion of bud. The infused leaf is greenish and coppery, and yields a light yellow liquor with bright and distinctly flavory taste. Steep at a water temperature just below boiling.
Havukal Estate Frost SFTGBOP Nilgiri's Havukal estate shares the same valley as Kairbetta, its neighbor on slightly higher slopes. It comprises approximately 150 hectares, most planted between 1910 and 1920 by British pioneer Hugh Graham Fennell who set out Assam plants exclusively. In 1957 Fennell sold the estate to the present owner, Mr. Thangavelu. Especially plucked at one leaf and a bud (instead of two leaves and a bud), the leaf of this SFTGBOP ("special fancy tippy golden broken orange pekoe") is greenish with some tip, and yields a light-bodied, puckery, elegant flavor and flamboyant aroma.
Kairbetta Estate Frost SFTGBOP 137 hectares of tea cover Kairbetta's steep mountainsides in the Nilgiri hills region of Tamil Nadu in southern India. All but 12 hectares was planted with Assam and China seedlings in the early 1920s by the original British owner, Col. Granville Alric Richard Spain, who sold the property to the Bhansali family in 1956. The dry SFTGBOP ("special fancy tippy golden broken orange pekoe") tea shows stylish twist and a few pale tips, infusing to a greenish leaf with residual bouquet. The tea liquor is aromatic, coloury and bright with a strong flavor.
Darjeeling Puttabong Estate FTGFOP, First Flush The Puttabong Estate high in the Himalayan foothills is well-known for their delicate yet full-bodied Darjeeling teas. These twisted leaves are golden greenish brown in color with many silvery tips and yield a liquor of a dark amber color with a hint of muscat and pleasant smooth aftertaste.
Margaret's Hope Vintage FTGFOP Margaret's Hope Estate is located in the Kurseong North Valley of Darjeeling. It produces a khaki-colored tea that is very aromatic in the dry leaf. This tea brews a russet-colored liquor that is bracing, perfumy and sapid with complex character that lingers on the tongue.
Gopaldhara Special Darjeeling, First and Second Flush Grown in the Mirik region of the Darjeeling valley, this silver-tipped Gopaldhara is aromatic in the dry leaf. It yields a rich, sapid brew with a smooth finish that lies full on the tongue, and can handle multiple infusions. This is as close as we've come to a "bottomless" cup of tea; the flavor is exquisite pot after pot, steeping after steeping. Steep at a water temperature just below boiling.

Gopaldhara Silver Pearls This distinctive high-grown tea from the renowned Gopaldhara Estate has rolled dry leaves in which the silver tips are clearly visible and a characteristic fruity aroma. The brewed tea yields a tawny liquor that is complex and deeply satisfying with a slightly spicy finish.
Nepal Organic Kenchajanga Black The Kenchajanga tea garden is the first farmers cooperative tea estate covering nearly 94 hectars of land, lying at 1,300 to 1,800 meters in the foot hills of Mt. Kanchenjunga, which abuts the Darjeeling district in nearby India. The garden produces this high quality organic tea of the Himalayas. Fragrant in the dry leaf, the golden brown tea liquor has a spicy rich flavor with smooth finish.
Organic Guranse Estate Black This small leafed, silver-tipped, organically grown tea comes from the Guranse Estate in Nepal located in the densely forested foothills of the Mahabarat mountains. It produces a deeply tawny cup with a spicy black tea taste. Although best appreciated on its own, small quantities of milk, sugar or lemon may be added to suit personal preferences.
Shan "Tràn Phú (Tuyét)" This very unusual silver-tipped tea is known as "Shan" (mountain) tea, from the ancestral home of the tea plant itself. The leaves are picked from ancient tea trees along the Vietnamese and Chinese border standing 6 to 7 meters tall and aged from 100 to 300 years old.
Litchee Congou (Lizhi Hongcha) From Guangdong province, this orange pekoe black tea treated with the juice of the lichee produces a delightful beverage. Lichee Congou has a natural, sweet and very aromatic character.
Lapsang Souchong (Zengshan Xiaozhong) Lapsang Souchong is a smoked tea with a distinctive flavor from the mountains of northern Fujian province. The tea leaves are withered and dried over pine wood fires, and become thick, glossy, coral black strips, slightly curled. They produce an infusion that is whiskey-like in appearance with a unique aroma. This tea is often used in "Russian Caravan" blends. It is drunk with or without sugar and milk.
Strawberry & Kiwi Black This attractive black tea brews an intense, deep burgundy cherry-colored liquor with a soft and pleasant, all natural strawberry and kiwi flavor.
Earl Grey This blend of China blacks gets its unusual flavor from oil of bergamot, made from the peel of the Canton orange (Citrus aurantium). Our Earl Grey has a China black orange pekoe tea base, and its long-rolled leaves have been sprayed with oil of bergamot, a citrus plant from Sicily. Just the right amount gives you a well-mannered, mild-flavored tea with a very distinctive yet delicate scent. Although popular in England and the United States, this tea is not widely consumed in China or by overseas Chinese.
Organic Vanilla This aromatic organic black tea has vanilla bits mixed in with the leaves and brews a strong infusion with mellow, rich and exotic notes.
Dragon Eyes Black From Guangdong province, this black tea with small dark wirey leaves is treated with the juice of the Dragon Eye fruit to produce a delightful beverage with a sophisticated taste. Dragon Eyes Black has a natural, sweet and very aromatic character.
Mango de l'Indochîne This is a Vietnamese OP black tea perfumed with mango oil, pieces of mango fruit, and calendula flowers. It is also an excellent iced tea as it does not cloud easily.
Coconut Tea This is an OP black tea perfumed with pieces of coconut and coconut oil. Coconut tea has a natural, sweet and very aromatic character. This is an excellent tea over ice.
English Breakfast A mixture of fine Ceylon, Darjeeling and Keemun teas, this classic blend brews a strong cup, full-bodied, fragrant and sweet. Drunk with a drop of milk to go with toast, honey and jam, this tea is enjoyable throughout the day.
Irish Breakfast Our classic blend of India Assam FOP and Chinese Yunnan teas produces a full-flavored liquor stronger than an English Breakfast. It is drunk with or without sugar and milk.
Russian Caravan Although the last camel caravan carrying tea for Russia left Peking in 1900, this tea blend remains as popular as ever. This smooth tea is a mixture of Ceylon OP with a touch of Lapsang Souchong which imparts a striking aroma with smoky aftertaste.
Pu-erh Tuocha "Camel Breath" From China's Yunnan province comes this grease-cutting, coffee-kicker tea. It is aged, ripe and high octane, featuring a rich earthy taste with briny overtones. Each tea "button" is individually paper-wrapped. There are many health benefits attributed to this tea; it lowers cholestrol and tricglycerides, cleanses the blood, is great for hangovers and indigestion, and also a treatment for obesity.
High Grade Pu-erh Tuocha "Camel Breath" Our High Grade Pu-erh Tuocha "Camel Breath" comes in larger buttons and has the same great earthy taste with subtle elemental nuances. It handles multiple steepings without losing flavor.
Pu-erh Mini-Disks These Pu-erh Mini-Disks are stamped with a floral pattern and have a delightful rich and earthy aroma. They brew a deep brown coffee-colored liquor with a satisfying, briny taste and smooth finish.
Green Pu-erh Tuocha "Xia Guan" Our Green Pu-erh mini-Tuochas from the renowned Xia Guan ("White Crane") farm are compressed high-grade tea with fresh green aroma in the dry leaf. The light tawny liquor has a smooth and slightly spicy taste.
Pu-erh Tuocha with Rose Here's our popular individually paper-wrapped Pu-erh Tuochas scented with rose petals. This tea from China's Yunnan province is reminiscent of a Rose Congou but with the health benefits of pu-erh.
Pu-erh Tuocha with Chrysanthemum (Gupu Cha) A combination of Pu-erh and Chrysanthemum tea (made from the small pale yellow blossoms of that plant) is considered particularly good for cooling internal heat, and is also delicious. Called Gupu cha, it can be requested in Cantonese teahouses as Gook Po cha. Each paper-wrapped button yields multiple infusions.
Pressed Green Pu-erh Cake Tea Harvested in March 1995, this well-aged Pressed Green Pue-erh Cake tea comes from China's Yunnan province. There is a stylized flower cut into the cake.
