The first China Black teas that left the Fujian coast to western Europe came from the tea producing area now known for its Lapsang Souchong.  Not all the tea from these bushes are smoked and made into Lapsang Souchong, and in fact, the authentic pine-smoked tea was a much lighter version than the popular standards of today. This is the original famous WuYi Mountain Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong tea.  There's no pine smoke, which makes a great everyday tea.  It's good for Gongfu tea or English style with cream.  Use 1 rounded teaspoon (3g) dry leaf per 6 ounces of spring water heated to boiling, steeping for 3 minutes.

As noted this tea lacks the characteristic smokey flavor but it is an excellent quality black tea. No regrets!

Please Note this tea does NOT have the smoky aroma and flavor of typical Lapsang Souchong. The tea's description mentions this but it bears repeating. The tea is good--smooth and mild. However, if you wanted traditional Lapsang Souchong flavor, this "Special" version does not have it.
