This tea comes from a garden east of Kathmandu in the eastern hills known as District Dhankuta. Just north of the gardens is snow-capped Makalu mountain range. The tea plantation itself covers an area from 3,300 ft. to 7,200 ft. above sea level about 600 km from Kathmandu. The tea gardens were started in 1995 with selected China clones, and the factory was established in 1998. Fragrant in the dry leaf, the golden brown tea liquor has a lightly sweet, spicy flavor with smooth, satisfying finish. Use one generous teaspoon of dry leaf per 6 ounces of spring water brought to a boil. Steep at a water temperature just below boiling for three to six minutes.
