The Making of a Tetsubin
Located in Iwate Japan, Iwachu has been making cast iron products since 1902 and is world renowned for their attention to quality and design. The tea pots have excellent durability and heat retention. The trendsetting color palette of Iwachu tea pots and their enduring enamel inner surfaces are the result of listening to and responding to the desires of tea drinkers throughout the world.
Step 1
The mold is prepared and the inner mold is put in position.
Step 2
1,500 cc of liquid iron are poured into the mold.
Step 3
The inner and outer molds are broken to release the teapot.
Step 4
Any raw edges are smoothed using a sander.
Step 5
The inner surface is enamel coated.
Step 6
The outer surface is painted.
Step 7
Any surplus color is eliminated and finished using a dry cloth.
Step 8
The in-depth quality control procedure follows, after which the teapots are carefully packaged.
